Our holiday accommodation is located just north of the village of Newton-under-Rawcliffe, approximately 6 miles from the bustling market town of Pickering - a perfect location to explore the Yorkshire Coast and North York Moors National Park. We are set in 42 acres of rolling pasture surrounded by wide open spaces and stunning scenery. The nearest village, Newton-under-Rawcliffe has an excellent traditional village inn called the "Mucky Duck - less than 1.5 miles from Rawcliffe House. There is a play area with swings, climbing equipment and an astroturf pitch for football, basketball or tennis. There also is the New Inn at Cropton (4 miles) - well known for its tasty food and refreshing local real ales brewed on-site. The famous steam trains of the North York Moors Railway run between Pickering and Grosmont - the nearest station is about a mile away on foot. The nearest town is Pickering and is well known locally for its excellent restaurants, coffee shops and traditional inns, offering something to eat and drink for every taste and budget. Other local villages and towns such as Helmsley and Kirby Moorside and many small picture postcard villages such as Hutton-le-Hole where you will find the Ryedale Folk Museum. |
Or if you want to escape the crowds completely, the peaceful North York Moors are right on your doorstep - hundreds of miles of fantastic walking in stunning scenery. For those looking for culture, why not visit Castle Howard, one of England's grandest Baroque mansions and gardens. There are some wonderful towns and villages along the Yorkshire Coast to explore including Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Staithes. The medieval city of York with its famous minster, city walls, Jorvik Viking Centre, National Railway Museum and York Racecourse is only a short drive away. If you visit us in Springtime, we are only a short drive away from Farndale - famous for its wonderful display of daffodils. Travel back in time to wartime Britain at the award winning Eden Camp or visit the family theme park at Flamingo Land for a fun day out. If you are feeling energetic, we are also not far from Ability Outdoors - the Outdoor Activity Centre for quad biking, orienteering, archery, canoeing, paint balling and other exciting adventures. Whatever you enjoy doing, there is something for everyone in this wonderful part of North Yorkshire. |
